KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS DEFEAT ARCADIA, 13-11
GLENSIDE -- Michelle O'Brien scored five goals to power the King's
College women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 victory over host Arcadia
University Saturday in Glenside. With the win, King's improved to 2-4
overall and 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Arcadia fell to 3-3
and 0-2 in MAC play.
Holding a 6-5 lead late in the first half, the Lady Monarchs exploded
for three goals, two from Melissa Gates and another by Grace King, over
a 3:26 span to take a 9-5 lead into the locker room. Arcadia would chip
away in the second half and closed to within 12-11 on a Shannon Bustin
goal with 3:02 remaining in the contest. But O'Brien would score her
fifth goal with 1:53 on the clock to give the Lady Monarchs a 13-11 lead
it would maintain for the remainder of the game.
Joining O'Brien in the scoring column for the Lady Monarchs were King
with three goals. Gates and Candace Russ netted two goals each while
Reanna Lachner scored one goal. Russ and Alicia Cox chipped in with one
assist each. Heather Kelly picked up the win in goal for King's, with
nine saves.
King's will host Lycoming College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler
Fields.
