KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO MISERI, 2-1

WILKES-BARRE -- Misericordia University built a 2-0 first-half lead and held on for a 3-1 victory over host King's College Thursday evening at Betzler Fields.

With the win Misericordia improved to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in Freedom Conference play. King's slipped to 9-2 and 1-1 in league games.

Misericordia would push across the first goal of the game with 8:27 left in the first half when Ashlee Leonard scored off an assist from Heather DiMenno. The Cougars would stretch the lead to 2-0 when Laura Leighow found the back of the net on a scramble in front of the King's goal with 3:54 remaining in the opening stanza. 

The Lady Monarchs would get on the board just 1:46 later when Jenera Quinones scored on a break away to cut the Cougar lead to 2-1 at the half.

King's had eight shots on the day while goalie Erin McGinley made seven saves.
Misericordia totaled nine shots while Ellen Howanitz posted three saves
