KING'S COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO #5 MESSIAH

GRANTHAM, PA -- The King's College field hockey team dropped its first match of the season as the Lady Monarchs fell to fifth-ranked host Messiah College 8-0 Tuesday in Grantham.

Messiah, which was coming off an impressive 3-2 win over third-ranked Salisbury on Saturday, improved to 4-1 while King's slipped to 8-0.

Messiah's offense was well balanced with seven different Falcons scoring. Nikki Bailey was the lone multiple goal scorer on the day, tallying two goals with one assist. Julie Barton found the back of the net once and assisted on another goal.

King's, which was coming off an impressive 2-1 win over 13th ranked Elizabethtown on Saturday, was unable to get its offense going on the fast artificial turf surface at Messiah, mustering just one shot on goal. Monarch goalie Erin McGinley made 25 saves on the day.

The Monarchs are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
