KING'S FIELD HOCKEY HOSTING MARYWOOD

WILKES-BARRE -- Debbie Wychock and Candice Russ scored two goals each to power the King's College field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over visiting Marywood University Wednesday at Betzler Fields. With the win, King's improved to 4-0 on the year while the Pacers slipped to 1-2.

King's opened the scoring at 13:28 of the first half when Russ knocked in a rebounded shot.  The Lady Monarchs would make it 2-0 at the half when Russ scored again by poking a rebound into the net with 4:13 left in the opening stanza.

In the second half, King's took a 3-0 lead when Wychock scored while deflecting in an interior feed pass from Christina Glenn just 1:21 into the final period.  Marywood would cut into the lead when Brittany Beaton scored during a scramble in front of the Lady Monarch goal.

King's, however, would put the game away just 0:38 later when Wychock scored off a center pass by Jenera Quinones.

The Lady Monarchs return to action Saturday and Sunday when the team looks to defend its championship at the Betty Richey Invitational Tournament at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY
