KING'S PLACES FIVE ON ALL-FREEDOM CONFERENCE FIELD
HOCKEY TEAM
ANNVILLE -- Five members of the King's College
field hockey team have been named to the 2007 All-Freedom Conference
squad, the Middle Atlantic Conferences office announced Wednesday.
Selected to the first-team were senior forward Debbie Wychock
(Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin), senior defender Melissa Gates
(Jenkintown/Jenkintown), and junior midfielder Christina Glenn
(Mountaintop/Crestwood). Named to the second-team were senior
forward Meghan Farrell (Clarks Summit/Lackawanna Trail) and
senior midfielder Grace King (Bryn Athyn/Academy of the New Church).
The quartet led King's to a 13-4 record and the top-seed in the 2007
Freedom Conference Tournament, which began Wednesday.
Heading
into the post-season, Wychock ranked second on the Lady Monarch squad
with 27 points on 13 goals and one assist. A second-team selection a
year ago, Wychock has tallied 88 points on 38 goals and 12 assists. She
was named the most valuable player of the 2006 Freedom Conference
Tournament and was named the Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" on
September 12.
Gates
enjoyed another banner year and earned her third-straight selection to
the all-conference as a defender where she helped limit opponents to
1.57 goals per-game, including just five goals over the last eight games
of the season. She was named the Freedom Conference "Defensive Player of
the Week" on October 22.
Glenn
has been a major contributor for King's where he has dominated the
midfield with her stick work and ball-striking ability. She also
contributed nine points on one goal with seven assists and proved to be
a force on penalty corners as well as clearing balls from King's
territory with her powerful stroke. She is a two-time All-Freedom
choice, garnering second-team honors a year ago.

Farrell ranked first on the team with 28 points on 11 goals and six
assists and was a force in front of the opponent's net with her strength
and tenacity. Over the past two seasons she has tallied 58 points on 24
goals and 10 assists.
King
was a steady influence as a defensive midfielder for the Lady Monarchs
and also played a part in the team allowing just 1.54 goals per-game.
She earned a second straight berth on the All-Freedom squad and was a
first-team choice in 2006. She was named the Freedom Conference
"Defensive Player of the Week" on October 29.
