ASTON -- Four different players scored goals as the King's College field
hockey team posted a 4-2 victory over host Neumann College Thursday in
Aston.
With the win, King's improved to 6-3 on the year while Neumann fell to
6-7.
King's
opened the scoring just 0:26 into the game when Debbie Wychock
struck net. Neumann would knot the game at 1-1 just 1:24 later on a goal
by Amanda Biagi. The Lady Monarchs would take a 2-1 lead when
freshman Candace Russ (right) scored her first career goal with
10:45 remaining in the first half. King's would stretch the lead
to 3-1 at the half when Amanda Schwartztrauber scored with 8:04
left in the opening stanza.
In the second half, Neumann would cut the lead to 3-2 when Kerri
Sinclair push across a goal for the Knights with 13:48 into the final
frame. King's would put the game away when Sarah McGrady
scored off an assist from Megan Farrell with 3:02 left in the
contest.
King's out shot Neumann 16-10 while holding an 11-6 advantage in penalty
corners.
Lady Monarch goalie Kari Leach made four saves while Knight
keepers Nicole Deludos and Chelsea Ward combined for eight stops.
King's will return to action Saturday when the Lady Monarchs open
Freedom Conference play at home with a 1:00 p.m. contest against
Delaware Valley College in a rematch of the 2006 conference tournament
semi-finals game won by King's.
