FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO ETOWN 2-1 IN OT

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Liz DeMatteis scored the game-winner in the first overtime period as host Elizabethtown College posted a 2-1 victory over King's College in a noon-conference matchup Wednesday in Elizabethtown. With the win, Elizabethtown improved to 7-3 while King's fell to 5-3 with its third straight loss at the hands of a 2006 NCAA national tournament qualifier.

Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead at 20:00 of the first half when Alison Duval scored off an assist from Megan Angst following a penalty corner. King's tied the score just 1:12 into the second half when Megan Farrell struck net off pass from Grace King. The teams would enter overtime when DeMatteis knocked in a loose ball in front of the Lady Monarch goal to end the contest.

Elizabethtown outshot King's 19-6 while holding a 16-3 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Kari Leach made 12 saves while Blue Jay keeper Liz Hannegan posted four stops.

King's will be idle until October 4 when the Lady Monarchs travel to face Neumann College in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
