KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DOWNED BY 2ND RANKED MESSIAH, 4-0

WILKES-BARRE -- Messiah College, ranked second nationally in Division III, outshot host King's College 32-4 on way to a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon at Betzler Fields.

With the loss King's slips to 5-2 overall, while Messiah improves to 4-2.

Junior Beth Sandowich put Messiah up early on a goal at the 29:13 mark of the first period. Sophomore Katie Love added another goal off an assist from senior Lindsey Hunter at the 25:25 mark of the first period giving Messiah a 2-0 lead at the half. Love would score again with 9:51 left in the second period off an assist by senior Lisa Strausbaugh extending the lead to 3-0. Hunter would added one more tally for Messiah on a goal with 8:27 left in the game.

Lady Monarch goalie junior Kari Leach had 16 saves in net for King's.

King's will return to action Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Elizabethtown College for a game at 4:30 pm.
