KING'S FIELD HOCKEY OPENS VASSAR TOURNEY
WITH 5-1 WIN AGAINST MIT
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- Seniors Megan Farrell and Debbie Wychock scored two
goals each as the King's College field hockey team posted a 5-1 win
against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Saturday in the Betty
Richey Tournament at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie,
NY.
With the win King's improves to 4-0 overall on the
year and advances to the championship game on Sunday.
King's took an early lead as Farrell started the
scoring with an unassisted goal at the 31:46 mark in the first period.
Wychock added a goal with an assist from senior Ave' Moran at the 10:05
mark in the first period. Sophomore Marissa Lear finished the first half
scoring for King's on a goal with 2:29 remaining in the first half.
Farrell would scored again with 24:02 in the
second period with an assist from junior Jackie Snover. Wychock would
complete the scoring for King's on a goal assisted by junior Christina
Glenn with 8:55 remaining in the game.
King's finished with 21 shots and eight corners.
Junior goalie Kari Leach had nine saves in net for the Lady Monarchs,
while senior Heather Kelly added four saves.
On Sunday, the consolation game is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. with the
title game at noon. King's faces host Vassar in the title game as the
Brewers defeated Elms 7-0.

Neither day of the event will be played on the Vassar campus due to
yet-to-be completed field construction.
The first day will be played at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, NY, roughly
40 minutes from campus. The second day games will be played at SUNY New
