KING'S FIELD HOCKEY POSTS IMPORTANT CONFERENCE WIN OVER DVC

WILKES-BARRE -- Debbie Wychock netted two goals while Lindsay Sabo scored one goal and equaled a school single-game record with four assists to lead the King's College field hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Delaware Valley in an important Freedom Conference field hockey match Monday in Doylestown.

With the win, 17th ranked King's improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in Freedom Conference play.  Delaware Valley, meanwhile, slipped to 7-7 and 2-3 in league action.

Wychock opened the scoring at 25:53 of the first half following an assist from Sabo. Megan Farrell would then score off Sabo's second assist just 5:33 later.  King's would take a 3-0 halftime lead when Sarah McGrady converted another assist from Sabo with 13:42 on the clock.

In the second stanza, Sabo would score on an assist from Grace King to give the Lady Monarchs a 4-0 lead with 31:56 remaining.  After a Delaware Valley goal, Wychock gave King's a 5-1 advantage when she struck net off Sabo's record-tying fourth assist of the game.  The Aggies would add the final goal with 0:21 left in the contest.

King's outshot Delaware Valley 31-15 while holding a 17-9 advantage in penalty corners.  Lady Monarch goalie Kari Leach made seven saves on the day.

King's will return to action Thursday when the Lady Monarchs host DeSales University at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
