KING'S WOMEN DOWN MONTCLAIR 71-60, IMPROVED TO 4-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Kaitlyn Fiorino scored a game-high
22 points to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a an
impressive 71-60 victory over visiting Montclair State University
Tuesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 4-0 while Montclair slipped to 1-2. In
the process, the Lady Monarchs avenged a 69-55 loss at Montclair last
season.
The Red Hawks took a 36-34 lead into the halftime break but the Lady
Monarchs came out of the locker room and put together a 16-3 run to take
a 50-39 lead with 12:46 left in the contest. King's took its biggest
lead of the game at 62-48 on a Jenna Palumbo bucket with 5:17 left in
the contest.
Andrea Hochstuhl tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds while Palumbo netted
15 points with 10 coming in the second half. Lauren Kendra contributed
with seven points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists while Case Heitman
chipped in with five point and four rebounds.
Montclair, which was picked to finished first in the New Jersey Athletic
Conference Pre-Season Coaches Poll, was led by Ferin Catlett with 18
points and six boards while Stephanie Machin added 15 points and 11
rebounds.
King's will be idle until Monday when the Lady Monarchs host 2006 NCAA
qualifier Gwynedd-Mercy College at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
