WILKES-BARRE -- King's College sophomore guard Kaitlyn Fiorino (North Brunswick, NJ/Immaculata) has been named the MAC Freedom Conference Women's Basketball "Player of the Week", the MAC Office announced today.

Fiorino enjoyed a fine season-opening performance in leading King’s to the team championship at the prestigious eight-team Marymount Tip-Off Classic. After finishing 13-13 last season, King’s went 3-0 in the event, defeating a 2006 NCAA Division III national tournament qualifier each round.

In three games, Fiorino averaged 21.3 points 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per-game. In the finals, she netted a career-high 27 points and was named the tournament Most Valuable Player as the Lady Monarchs defeated Mt. St. Mary’s 76-65.

King’s also defeated State University of Athletic Conference champion Oswego 59-54 and New Jersey Athletic Conference titlist Richard Stockton 46-39 during the tournament.
