HOCHSTUHL, PALUMBO NAMED TO ALL-FREEDOM CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College women's basketball standouts Andrea Hochstuhl (Landenberg/St. Marks, De.) and Jenna Palumbo (Hazleton/Hazleton Area) have been named to the 2007 All-Freedom Conference Team, the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Wednesday.

Hochstuhl was a first-team selection while Palumbo was named to the second-team.

A 6-foot junior center, Hochstuhl has enjoyed a banner year for the Lady Monarchs, averaging 14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 48 blocked shots while registering 14 double-doubles (points-rebounds) on the year. Hochstuhl, who has scored in double-figures in 20 of King's 25 games during the season, leads the Freedom Conference in rebounds, stands second in blocked shots.

This season she has posted career highs of 23 points January 27 against Delaware Valley, 17 rebounds January 17 versus Lycoming, and seven blocked shots against FDU-Florham on January 20. Hochstuhl was also a three-time Freedom Conference "Player of the Week" during the year.

A 5-6 junior guard, Palumbo has also enjoyed an outstanding season with averages of 15.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per-game. She stands as one of the top long-range shooters in the nation at any level, making a school-record 90 three-point field goals while making an impressive 40.5 (90-222) percent of her long-range attempts. This season Palumbo has set a King's record with seven three-pointers in one game, achieving the milestone twice during the year.

With one full season remaining, she is already King's career leader with 162 three-pointers. Palumbo netted a career-high 27 points in a victory over Delaware valley on January 27.

"We are very happy for both Andrea and Jenna and feel they are both worthy of the recognition they have received," King's coach Brian Donoghue stated. "Andrea was the most consistently dominant post player over the course of the season and was the only player in the conference to average a double-double. She worked hard to improve her game and this is a great reward for her. Jenna has obviously been an outstanding shooter, but has made tremendous improvements in other areas of her game and has increased her production in rebounding and assists, while working hard to become a solid defender. We are proud of Jenna and her commitment to becoming a more complete player."
