KING'S WOMEN DOWN FDU TO SECURE SECOND SEED, FIRST-ROUND HOME PLAYOFF GAME

WILKES-BARRE -- Kaitlyn Fiorino paced three double-figure scorers with 18 points as the King's College women's basketball team posted a 74-62 victory over visiting FDU-Florham Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's secured the second seed for next week's Freedom Conference Tournament as the Lady Monarchs ended the regular-season with a 18-7 overall record and a 10-4 league mark.  FDU, meanwhile, ended the campaign at 10-15 and 4-10.

King's built a 36-29 half-time lead on the strength of none points from Fiorino and seven by Jenna Palumbo.

King's built a 59-46 lead in the second half on a three-pointer from Fiorino and never looked back as the Devils drew no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Fiorino was 6-of-11 shooting, including 6-of-9 from three-point land.  Andrea Hochstuhl finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Casey Heitman also netted 14 points with four assists.  Lauren Kendra added seven points, nine assists, five rebounds, and four steals while Palumbo finished with nine points.

Emily Cerankowski led FDU with 28 points and Jessie Chalmers added 18 but only six Devils reached the scoring column and no other player tallied more than six points.

King's will host third-seeded DeSales Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Freedom Conference semi-finals in Scandlon Gymnasium.

Top-seeded Scranton will host fourth-seeded Drew Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

The winners will play for the Freedom Conference title Saturday at a time to be announced.
