LADY MONARCHS DEFEAT WILKES 61-39 FOR 19TH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY OVER LADY COLONELS

WILKES-BARRE -- Andrea Hochstuhl netted 19 points and Jenna Palumbo added 15 to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a 61-39 victory over Wilkes University Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's won its fourth straight game, improving to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in Freedom Conference play.  Lady Monarchs also earned its 19th consecutive victory over Wilkes dating back to the the 199697 season. Wilkes, meanwhile, slipped to 5-8 and 1-2.

King's would take control  early when the Lady Monarchs built a 24-6 lead.  Palumbo continued her torrid outside shooting, scoring all 15 over her points in the first half, making 5-of-7 from three-point range. The Lady Monarchs continued to control play and took its biggest lead of the half at 35-13 on a Palumbo trey with 0:27 on the clock.

The second half would display more of the same as the Lady Monarchs built a 27-point lead when Hochstuhl scored down low to give King's a 42-15 advantage with 17:11 left in the contest.  King's biggest lead of the game would come with 3:14 left when Krystina Durako made one-of-two foul shots to push the score to 60-31.

Casey Heitman and Brittany Atzert added eight points for King's while Kaitlyn Malshefski chipped in with five points.

Wilkes was led by Randi Corbo with 11 points while Kelly Patchell added six.

Kingšs will return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest with Delaware Valley College in Scandlon Gymnasium.
