KING'S AND SALISBURY ADVANCE TO LADY MONARCH TOURNEY
FINAL
WILKES-BARRE -- Kaitlyn Fiornio led four
double-figure scorers with 21 points to lead the host King's College
women's basketball team to a 89-42 victory over Arcadia University
Friday in the first-round of the annual lady Monarch Classic in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
King's advances to Saturday's championship game where it will face
Salisbury University at 3:00 p.m. The Seagulls also advanced to
the final with a 87-53 win over Keystone. Arcadia and Keystone will
square off in the 1:00 p.m. consolation game.
King's came flying out of the gates, opening up the contest with an 18-2
run and never looked back. Fiorino netted 12 first-half points while
Andrea Hochstuhl added 10 to give the Lady Monarchs a comfortable 44-15
lead at the break.
The Lady Monarchs continued to control the game in the second half,
building its biggest lead of the game (51 points) at 82-31 with 6:06
left.
Fiorino was 7-of-12 from the field, including 6-of-9 from three-point
range. Casey Heitman finished with 14 points and was 4-for-4 from
three-point land. Hochstuhl added a double-double with 12 points
and 10 boards while Jenna Palumbo netted 11 points in just 14 minutes of
action. Andrea Carroll tallied nine points and three assists while
Lauren Kendra chipped in with two points, nine assists, six rebounds,
and four steals.
King's set a new school record by connecting on 14 three-pointers in the
game, besting the previous mark of 10 that was set twice in 1998. King's
shot 53.8 (14-26) from down town.
Kim Milligan led Arcadia with eight points and five rebounds while
Ashley Heakins followed with seven points and five boards. Stephanie
Bates also netted seven points while Katie Lynch chipped in with six
points and 10 rebounds.

Salisbury, meanwhile, would get off to a slow start as Keystone raced
out to a 10-0 lead just 2:39 into the game. The Seagulls would
regroup, however, and outscored the Lady Giants 39-20 over the final
18:21 of the opening stanza.
The Seagulls used a balanced attack as seven players scored at least
eight points in the victory.
Victoria Lawson netted a team-high 14 points with six assists
while Brianna Simpson followed with 12 points and four steals. Jenna
Peters tallied 11 points while Jessica Mills, Meghan Phillips and
Catherine Mills added nine points each. Katie McFarland chipped in
with eight points.
Keystone was guided by Kerry Fallon with a game-high 21 points and five
assists while Jessica Kobesky added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Yasmine Bates contributed 11 points and nine boards.
