WALDORF RALLIES TO DOWN KING'S WOMEN 55-54

FT, LAUDERDALE, FA -- Kellie Kirsch gave Waldorf College its only lead of the game on a short jumper with 0:06 remaining as the Warriors rallied from a 12-point second half deficit to register a 55-54 victory over King's College Sunday at the Cruzin' Classic Women's Basketball Tournament at Barry University, Ft. Lauderdale.

King's took a 32-26 lead into the half-time break and controlled the action throughout the much of the second half. The Lady Monarchs built its biggest lead of the game at 46-34 when freshman guard Kaitlyn Fiorino drained a three-pointer with 12:36 remaining.

Waldorf, an NAIA Division II scholarship program, would score the next five point to close to within 46-39 with 8:43 left, but Fiorino would score on a short jumper to extend the lady Monarch lead back to 48-39 with 7:56 on the clock.

From there, Waldorf would go on a 10-2 run and cut the Lady Monarch lead to 50-49 on a Kirsch bucket with 3:12 left. After Beth Jordan hit a pair of foul shots to give King's a 52-49 advantage with 1:36 remaining, Kirsch answered with another basket to bring the Warriors to within 52-51 with 1:14 on the clock. Jordan would then score another big bucket for the lady Monarchs to give King's a 54-51 lead with 0:51 left.

Waldorf would again counter when Katie Meyer scored for Waldorf with 0:38 remaining to close the gap to 54-53. With a chance to put the game away, King's would commit a critical turnover with 0:13 left and the Warriors would capitalize when Kirsch scored with 0:06 left to give Waldorf its only led of the game at 55-54.

The Lady Monarchs had one last chance when Kasey Oczkowski drove to the basket but missed on the potential game-winner with 0:01 left as Waldorf walked away with the victory.

Fiorino led King's (5-5) with a career-high 25 points, including four three-pointers to pace the Lady Monarch attack. Beth Jordan added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Andrea Hochstuhl and Casey Heitman added six points each for King's.

Kirsch led Waldorf (6-8) with 16 points, including eight of the team's final 10 points while adding eight rebounds.
