KING'S WOMEN'S CAGERS FALL TO DELAWARE VALLEY, 72-65

DOYLESTOWN -- Julie McGowan scored a game-high 29 points and host Delaware Valley College overcame a four-point second-half deficit to post a 72-65 victory over King's College in an MAC Freedom Conference women's basketball matchup Saturday in Doylestown.

With the win, Delaware Valley improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. King's slipped to 3-3 and 1-1 in league action.

King's trailed 31-24 at the half, but roared back with a with a 16-5 run to take a 40-36 led on a basket by Andrea Hochstuhl with 12:45 remaining.

The Aggies, however with a run of their own, outscoring King's 24-7 over the next 7:28 to build a 60-47 advantage with 4:57 left.

King's would attempt to rally with a 15-6 run and cut the lead to 66-62 on a bucket by Kasey Oczkowski and one of two foul shots from Ann Orelli with 0:55 left. After Rachel Joyce scored and added a foul shot to extend the Aggie lead to 69-62 with 0:35 left, Brittany Brooks answered for King's with a three-pointer to bring the lady Monarchs to within 69-65 with 0:24 left. Delaware Valley, though, would make three of four foul shots over the finals moments to put the game away.

McGowan made 13-of-18 foul shots and added nine rebounds for the Aggies while Brooke Dittmar contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds. Moira Donoghue and Rachel Joyce chipped in with 10 points each for Delaware Valley.

Freshman guard Kaitlyn Fiorino led King's with 15 points while senior forward Beth Jordan added 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Hochstuhl contributed 11 points and nine rebounds.

King's will next travel to face Gwynedd-Mercy College Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
