KING'S WOMEN FALL TO FDU, WILL FACE TOP-SEEDED SCRANTON IN OPENER
MADISON, NJ -- The King's College women's basketball team committed 26
turnovers and shot just 35.6 percent from the field as the Lady Monarchs
dropped a 71-57 decision to FDU-Florham Saturday in Madison, NJ.
With the loss, King's ended its regular-season with a 13-12 record and
an 8-6 Freedom Conference mark. FDU, which swept the season series from
King's, improved to 17-8 and 7-7 in league play. The loss gives King's
the fourth seed in next week's Freedom Conference playoffs while FDU
fell short of qualifying for post-season play.
The Lady Monarchs will travel to face top-seeded University of Scranton,
the second-ranked team nationally in Division III. The Lady Royals
posted a come-from-behind 63-60 win over DeSales to conclude the regular
season at 24-1 and 14-0 in conference games. The game is slated for
Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the John Long Center.
Second-seeded Delaware Valley will host third-seeded DeSales in the
other semi-final pairing.
King's trailed 32-28 at the half but the Devils opened the second stanza
with a 10-2 run to build a 42-30 lead with 15:24 remaining and the Lady
Monarchs would never recover. King's would score just eight points over
the first 12:20 of the second half, allowing FDU to build two leads of
18 points, the last coming at 54-36 with 7:40 left.
Beth Jordan was the only king's player to reach double figures with 13
points while adding six assists. Kaitlyn Fiorino followed with nine
