KING'S WOMEN DEFEAT LYCOMING, 61-42
WILLIAMSPORT -- The King's College women's basketball team continues to
remain in the hunt for a Freedom Conference playoff berth as the Lady
Monarchs posted an important 61-42 victory over host Lycoming Wednesday
in Williamsport.
With the win, King's improved to 11-11 overall and 6-5 in conference
play. Lycoming fell to 5-16 and 1-10.
King's built a 28-22 halftime led, then used a strong defensive effort
in the second half to hold the Warriors to just 25.0 (6-24) percent from
the floor over the final 20 minutes of play. King's held the Warriors
without a field goal for nearly five minutes into the second half.
Offensively, the Lady Monarchs used a 18-2 run to build a 46-24 lead
with 13:20 remaining.
Senior forward Beth Jordan paved the way with 15 points, five rebounds,
and two assists. Sophomore center Andrea Hochstuhl followed with 13
points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard Jenna Palumbo added
nine points four rebounds and four assists while freshman guard Kaitlyn
Fiorino contributed seven points. Sophomore point-guard Lauren Kendra
chipped in with five points, nine rebounds, five assists, and four
steals.
Lycoming was paced by Amy Kile with 14 points and six rebounds while
Danielle Kern followed with five points and a team-high 11 boards.
Lauren Carey chipped in with nine points for the Warriors.
King's will return home on Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host Drew
University at 6:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
