JORDAN, ATZERT LEAD KING'S WOMAN PAST DREW

MADISON, NJ -- Senior forward Beth Jordan scored a career-high 29 points and freshman forward Brittany Atzert added career highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds as the King's College women's basketball team posted a crucial 88-78 road victory over Drew University Wednesday in Madison.

With the win, King's improved to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in Freedom Conference play. Drew slipped to 9-8 and 4-3 in league action.

King's trailed 37-34 at the half-time break but the Lady Monarchs erupted for 54 second-half points to post its highest point total of the season. The Lady Monarchs dominated the boards, out rebounding Drew 50-26 and also used its size advantage to pound the ball inside and get to the foul line. King's went 26-of-35 from the charity stripe, including 21-of-28 in the second half.

Jordan, who surpassed her previous career best of 26 against Delaware Valley last season, was 14-of-25 from the field and also added eight rebounds. Atzert came off the bench when Lady Monarch starting center got into early foul trouble and made an immediate impact in the paint. Atzert was 14-of-15 from the foul line and surpassed her previous career bests of six points and 10 boards.

Jenna Palumbo added 10 points while Kaitlyn Fiorino followed with 10. Hochstuhl finished with seven points while point-guard Lauren Kendra chipped in with seven points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.

Drew was led by Courtney Cunningham and Melissa Kraft with 22 and 21 points respectively.

King's returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with an important home league contest against Delaware Valley in Scandlon Gymnasium.
