LADY MONARCHS FALL TO FDU, 66-58
WILKES-BARRE -- Ashley Flaherty scored 17 points
with 11 rebounds and Danielle Yasko added 16 to lead visiting
FDU-Florham to a 66-58 victory over King's College Saturday at Scandlon
Gymnasium.
With the win, FDU improved to 10-5 overall and 2-4 in Freedom Conference
play. King's slipped to 8-9 and 3-3.
FDU took a 34-30 lead at the half and never trailed in the second
stanza. The Lady Monarchs closed the gap to a one-point margin six times
in the second half but could never get over the hump.
King's hurt itself mightily at the foul line, converting just 11
of 24 attempts for the game. The Lady Monarchs also struggled from the
field in the second stanza, making just 29.6 (8-27) percent of their
shots after hitting on 48.1 (13-27) percent in the first half.
Andrea Hochstuhl led King's with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Beth
Jordan netted 12 points. Kaitlyn Fiorino added 11 points. No other
King's player scored over six points.
Flaherty was 8-of-10 from the field for the Devils. Nicole Iannotto also
played a major role for FDU with nine points and six rebounds, five
coming on the offensive end. FDU outrebouded King's 43-32 and had
13 offensive boards.
King's will next travel to Madison, NJ to face Drew University at 6:00
p.m.
