ARLINGTON, VA -- The King's College women's basketball team advanced to the championship round of the Marymount Tip-Off Classic with a 68-54 victory over Salisbury State University Saturday in Arlington, Va.

With the win, King's improved to 2-0 in the three-day, eight-team event while Salisbury fell to 1-1.

The Lady Monarchs were led by their inside duo of senior center Kristin Yeasted and junior power forward Beth Jordan who scored 17 points apiece. Senior guard Katie Lala enjoyed a solid game with 13 points while sophomore guard Vienna Spitler contributed eight points and seven rebounds. Senior guard Lauren Bonanni chipped in with three points and a team-high seven assists.

King's defense forced a horde of Salisbury turnovers and the Lady Monarch offense was successful at penetrating to the basket and drawing fouls against the Seagulls, making 19-of-21 charity shots.

King's will face the winner of the other semi-final pairing between Alvernia College and Richard Stockton University Sunday in the title game at 3:00 p.m.

King's will play for the title against Alvernia College, a 64-59 winner of Richard Stockton University in the other semi-final pairing.
