KING'S WIN DOWN SALISBURY TO ADVANCE TO MARYMOUNT
FINAL
ARLINGTON, VA -- The King's College women's
basketball team advanced to the championship round of the Marymount
Tip-Off Classic with a 68-54 victory over Salisbury State University
Saturday in Arlington, Va.
With the win, King's improved to 2-0 in the
three-day, eight-team event while Salisbury fell to 1-1.
The Lady Monarchs were led by their inside duo of
senior center Kristin Yeasted and junior power forward Beth Jordan who
scored 17 points apiece. Senior guard Katie Lala enjoyed a solid game with
13 points while sophomore guard Vienna Spitler contributed eight points
and seven rebounds. Senior guard Lauren Bonanni chipped in with three
points and a team-high seven assists.
King's defense forced a horde of Salisbury turnovers
and the Lady Monarch offense was successful at penetrating to the basket
and drawing fouls against the Seagulls, making 19-of-21 charity shots.
King's will face the winner of the other semi-final
pairing between Alvernia College and Richard Stockton University Sunday in
the title game at 3:00 p.m.
King's will play for the title against Alvernia College, a 64-59 winner of
Richard Stockton University in the other semi-final pairing.
