KING'S WOMEN DEFEAT GETTYSBURG 74-68 IN MARYMOUNT
OPENER
ARLINGTON, VA -- Junior forward Beth Jordan
scored a career-high 20 points to power the King's College women's
basketball team to a season-opening 74-68 victory over Gettysburg College
in the first-round of the eight-team Marymount Tip-Off Classic in
Arlington, Va.
King's, which trailed 35-32 at the half, outscored Gettysburg 42-33 over
the final 20 minutes of action. Jordan was 8-of-11 from the field
and pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady Monarchs. Kristin
Yeasted added 13 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Vienna
Spitler followed with 11 points and a career-best nine rebounds.
Senior guard Lauren Bonanni scored eight points with three assists while
freshman guard Lauren Kendra netted eight points with three steals. Junior
guard Jess Ohrin chipped in with seven points.
Jen Bengel led Gettysburg with 18 points and eight rebounds while Katie
Eiden contributed 16 points. Elizabeth Ross added 10 points and nine
rebounds for the Bullets.
King's will next face the of the opening round matchup between 2004 NCAA
qualifier Maryville University of Tennessee and Salisbury State University
Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
