KING'S  WOMEN CONCLUDE REGULAR SEASON WITH 67-42 VICTORY OVER FDU

WILKES-BARRE -- Kristin Yeasted posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a 67-42 victory over visiting FDU-Florham in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 22-3 overall and and 12-2 in the Freedom Conference.  FDU slipped to 14-11 and 6-8.  

King's built a 29-17 half-time lead on 10 points and nine boards from Yeasted.  The Lady Monarchs also played solid defense in limiting the Devils to just 22.6 (7-31) shooting in the first half.

In the second half, the Lady Monarchs would extend the lead to 45-22 on a three-pointer from Jenna Palumbo and a pair of foul shots from Lauren Bonanni with 13:33 left.  From there the Lady Monarchs would cruise to victory as the Devils would draw no closer than 47-33 with 9:40 left.  From there, King's went on a 20-6 run and took a 28-point lead, its biggest of the game, at 67-39 with 1:34 remaining.

Yeasted was 6-of-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from the foul line while adding three assists. Palumbo netted 12 points with five steals while Beth Jordan added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Colette Makoweic netted nine points while Lauren Davison scored seven. Bonanni dished out four assists while Lauren Kendra chipped in with four points, two assists, and two steals.

FDU was led by Jessie Chalmers with 12 points and nine rebounds while Pam Sagehorn followed with eight points and six boards. Ashley Flaherty chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.

Second-seeded King's will next host third-seeded DeSales University in the semi-final round of the Freedom Conference playoffs Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
