9TH RANKED KING'S WOMEN DOWN LYCO, 66-31
WILKES-BARRE -- The ninth-ranked King's College women's
basketball team held visiting Lycoming College to just 28.6 percent
shooting as the Lady Monarchs posted a 66-31 victory Wednesday in Scandlon
Gym.
With the win, King's improved to 20-2 overall and 10-1 in the MAC Freedom
Conference while Lycoming fell to 6-14 and 2-8.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as King's managed to
build a 23-15 lead at the break thanks to seven points from Kristin
Yeasted and six from Jenna Palumbo.
In the second stanza, King's took command, shooting 54.2 (13-24 percent
from the field.
Yeasted finished with a game-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while
Palumbo netted 12 points, including four three-pointers in her first
career start.
Ashley Whitehead netted eight points while Beth Jordan added six points,
eight rebounds, and four assists. Lauren Kendra posted five points, five
rebounds, and three steals while Lauren Bonanni distributed four assists.
Ann Orelli chipped in with five points for the Lady Monarchs.
King's defense was outstanding as the Lady Monarchs held an opponent under
50 points for the eighth time this season.
Lycoming was paced by Amy Kile with 10 points while Jessica Snyder added
eight.
The Lady Monarchs will next host Drew University Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
