YEASTED NETS CAREER-HIGH 32 AS KING'S WOMEN HALF DESALES 12-GAME HOME WIN STREAK.

WILKES-BARRE --  Senior center Kristin Yeasted scored a career-high 32 points to lead the 12th ranked King's College women's basketball team to a crucial 73-58 victory over host DeSales University Saturday in Center Valley.

With the win, King's improved to 18-2 overall and maintained its lock on second-place in the Freedom Conference with a 9-1 mark.  DeSales, ranked 21st nationally, falls to 16-5 and 7-3 in conference play.

King's would open the game strong, building a 20-9 advantage with 10:24 left in the half on the strength of eight points by Yeasted.  DeSales would battle back with a 18-7 run and knotted the score at 27-27 on a bucket by Holly Leibl with 3:56 remaining.  The Lady Monarchs then answered when Andrea Hochstuhl scored with 2:32 remaining, then hit one of two foul shots with 1:12 on the clock as King's took a 30-27 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, King's would slow pull away when a three-pointer by Vienna Spitler ignited a 9-2 spurt with seven consecutive points on a three-pointer, a layup, and two subsequent foul shots. Yeasted followed with a pair of foul shots to give King's a 47-37 lead with 13:22 remaining.

After DeSales cut the lead to 47-38 on a basket by Maria Viercinski, King's responded with 10-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Ashley Whitehead to give the Lady Monarchs its biggest lead of the game at 57-39 with 10:42 left.

DeSales would attempt to rally with a 11-2 spurt and closed to within 59-50 on a three-pointer from Jen Netwall with 6:47 left but a three-point play from Yeasted and a bucket by Beth Jordan extended the lead to 64-51 with 4:18 left. DeSales would draw no closer than 11 points for the remainder of the contest.

Yeasted bested her previous career best of 25 points by connecting on 11-of-17 shots from the field and 10-of-13 from the foul line.  Jordan added 12 points with  team-highs of eight rebounds and seven assists while Spitler added nine points, six assists, and five boards.

Alyssa Antolick led DeSales with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting with four rebounds and two assists,  Leibl followed with 13 points and eight boards.
