KING'S WOMEN POST 16THSTRAIGHT WIN OVER WILKES
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's women's basketball
team used its most balanced effort of the season as the visiting Lady
Monarchs posted a 77-26 victory over cross-town rival Wilkes University
Wednesday at the Marts Center.
King's, ranked 12th nationally in Division III, improved to 17-2 overall
and 8-1 in Freedom Conference play. Wilkes fell to 3-16 and 0-8.
The win marked King's 16th consecutive victory over the Lady Colonels.

King's controlled the first half and built a 36-13 lead behind eight
points from Beth Jordan and seven from Vienna Spitler. The Lady Monarchs
continued to dominate the action in the second half, holding the Lady
Colonels to just two points in the first 8:42 of the final stanza as
King's took a 52-15 lead with 12:27 left.
With all five King's starters out of the game for good, Wilkes finally
scored its second basket of the half with with 11:18 left in the contest.
The Lady Monarch reserves finished out the game and outscored Wilkes 25-8
during the remainder of the game.
King's had all 12 played who entered the game see at least 10 minutes of
action. Jordan topped the Lady MOnarchs with 12 points on 6-of-10
shooting with six rebounds in 21 minutes of work. Kristin Yeasted followed
with 10 points and seven boards in 21 minutes. Ann Orelli, Ashley
Whitehead and Jenna Palumbo each came off the bench to tally eight points
each while Spitler and Lauren Bonanni both netted seven points. Lauren
Kendra chipped in with six assists and four steals.
Wilkes was led by Andrea Kacprowicz with 11 points while Karyn Perestam
followed with 10 points.
King's will next travel to Center Valley to meet DeSales University in a
crucial conference matchup. King's stands second in conference play, just
one game ahead of DeSles.
