JORDAN, YEASTED LEAD KING'S OVER FDU, 63-55
MADISON, NJ -- Beth Jordan and Kristin Yeasted
combined for 37 points and 24 rebounds to lead the King's College women's
basketball team to a 63-55 victory over host FDU-Florham in a Freedom
Conference matchup Wednesday in Madison, NJ.
With the win, King's improved to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in Freedom
Conference play while FDU slipped to 11-6 and 3-3.
The Lady Monarchs built a 39-32 halftime lead as Jordan netted 14 points
followed by 10 from Yeasted. Jenna Palumbo all of her six points in the
first half.
In the second half, FDU cut the lead to 50-49 on a basket by Pam Sagehorn
with 7:52 left in the contest, but King's put the game away with a 13-0
run over the next 7:00, building a 63-49 advantage on a bucket by Vienna
Spitler and one-of-two foul shots from Yeasted with 0:52 on the clock.
Jordan finished with a game-high 20 points with 10 rebounds, while Yeasted
netted 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, including 10 offensive
boards. Yeasted made just three field goals but was 11-of-14 from
the foul line.
Spitler added nine points and five rebounds while Lauren Kendra netted six
points with five boards in her first career start. King's held a
44-30 rebounding advantage and forced 24 FDU turnovers.
FDU was led by Jess Chalmers with 17 points while Ashley Flahery added
11.
King's will next host Delaware Valley Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Lady
Monarch Alumni Game will take place at 10:30 a.m.
