LADY MONARCHS DOWN LYCOMING, IMPROVED TO 3-0 IN
FREEDOM
WILLIAMSPORT -- Junior Beth Jordan posted a
game-high 18 points to lead the 16th King's College women's basketball
team to a 59-50 victory over host Lycoming College Wednesday in
Williamsport.
With the win, King's improved to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in Freedom
Conference play. Lycoming slipped to 4-7 and 0-3.
King's took a 32-26 lead at the half on the strength of eight points each
from Jordan and junior forward Cindy Baral. In the second half, King's
open up with a 12-3 run and took a 44-29 lead with 11:19 remaining on a
bucket from Jordan. The Lady Monarchs continued to control the action and
would take its biggest lead of the game at 52-33 on a Jess Ohrin basket
with 8:16 left. Lycoming would chip away and would close to within eight
points at 56-48 with 3:04 left but would draw no closer.
Jordan was 9-of-14 from the field and was joined by Baral with a
season-high 12 points as the lone Lady Monarchs to reach double figures.
Katie Lala netted eight points with seven rebounds and four steals while
Lauren Davison chipped in with six points.
Lycoming was led by Danielle Kern with 11 points while Colleen Wade
chipped in with eight.
King's will next host fellow Freedom Conference contender DeSales
University Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
