KING'S WOMEN CAPTURE LADY MONARCH CLASSIC

WILKES-BARRE -- Tournament most valuable player Beth Jordan scored a game-high 18 points to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a 75-51 victory over Salisbury University the championship of the Lady Monarch Classic Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium>

With the win, King's improved to 11-1 while Salisbury slipped to 8-4.

The Lady Monarchs put together an outstanding defensive effort in limiting the Seagulls to just seven field goals (7-26) in the first half as King's built a 38-15 lead behind 12 points from Jordan.

King's continued to control the action in the second half and led by as many as 31 points.

Jordan also added eight rebounds, five steals, and three assists to pace King's.  Latie Lala added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Vienna Spitler earned a spot on the all-tournament team after scoring five points with five rebounds and two steals.  Cindy Baral added seven points and three steals.  Lauren Bonanni was presented the John J. Dorish Sportsmanship Awards in honor of the late King's director of athletics.

Kat Kordal was named to the all-tournament team for Salisbury after scoring 14 points with eight boards. Kiera Watkins was also an all-tournament pick with 12 points and five boards.  Christine Barney added nine points and five rebounds for the Seagulls.

In the consolation game, Susquehanna defeated Misericordia 75-67.  Jenn Evans scored 20 points to make the all-tournament team.  Crystal Schneck netted 16 points while Ang Letcavage added 11 as the Crusaders improved to 5-7.

Misericordia was paced by Ericka Morrison with 19 points and six steals who also earned a place on the all-tournament team. Amy Hughes scored 11 points while Jenell Fort added 12 for the Cougars who slipped to 7-4 on the year.
