KING'S WOMEN DOWN MISERICORDIA TO REACH TOURNEY
FINAL
WILKES-BARRE -- Vienna Spitler scored a
game-high 13 points as the King's College women's basketball team posted a
60-34 victory over College Misericordia in the opening round of the Lady
Monarch Classic Friday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half but Spitler
scored nine points, making three-of-four three-pointers as King's took a
22-13 lead into the break.
Beth Jordan, who posted a team-high seven rebounds, scored each of her 10
points in the second half as King's outscored the Cougars 38-21 in the
second stanza.
Casey Heitman came off the bench to score eight points for King's. Katie
Lala added six points and three rebounds while Lauren Kendra scored two
points but had five assists and five steals. Lauren Bonanni chipped in
with five points, four assists, and four steals.
Misericordia (7-3) was led by Ericka Morrison with 10 points while Megan Yhlen
added six points. Jenell Fort chipped in with five points and five
rebounds.
King's (10-1) advances to the championship game where it will face Salisbury
University Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Misericordia will meet Susquehanna in the 1:00 p.m. consolation game.
