LADY MONARCHS ROUTE WILKES 82-53

WILKES-BARRE -- Jen Wozniak scored a game-high 19 points to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a 82-53 victory over host Wilkes University in the MAC Freedom Conference opener for both teams Wednesday at the Marts Center.

With the win, King's improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play while Wilkes fell to 0-4 and 0-1. In the process, the Lady Monarchs won their 13th consecutive game dating back to the start of the 1997-98 season.

King's broke open a close first half with a late 11-1 run as the Lady Monarchs took a 38-27 lead into the locker room. Wozniak paced the Lady Monarchs with 14 first half points and played just five minutes in the second half. 

Beth Jordan netted a season-high 14 points with eight rebounds while Tiffini Varrasse added 11 points and four rebounds. Colette Mackoweic, Cindy Baral, and Ann Orelli chipped in with six points apiece.

Wilkes was led by Andrea DeMaranville with 14 points while Danielle Kresock added 11.

King's will host Delaware Valley College Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
