LADY MONARCHS SURVIVE SCARE FROM DREW

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's basketball team placed five players in double-figure scoring as the Lady Monarchs survived a major scary from pesky Drew University, 75-67 Wednesday in Wilkes-Barre.

With the win, King's improved to 17-2 overall and 8-1 in MAC Freedom Conference action. Drew fell to 10-10 and 2-7.

Tiffini Varrasse led King's with 15 points and six assists while Kristin Yeasted was outstanding with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jen Wozniak, Carissa Ryan, and Beth Jordan chipped in with 10 points each.

Drew was paced by Sarah Marquez with 15 points while Lauren Aliano and Catherine Seto followed with 14 and 12 points respectively.

By virtue of Delaware Valley's stunning 60-54 upset win over the University of Scranton, King's moves into sole possession of first place in the Freedom Conference. King's travels to face Scranton Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the John J. Long Center.
