KING'S WOMEN'S CAGERS ROUTE FDU, 88-43

WILKES-BARRE -- Junior point-guard Tiffini Varrasse scored a game-high 17 points in just 20 minutes of action to lead the King's College women's basketball team to a 88-43 victory over visiting FDU-Florham in an MAC Freedom Conference matchup Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, the 11th ranked Lady Monarchs improved to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. FDU fell to 6-8 and 1-5.

King's used a stifling defensive effort in the first half, forcing the Devils to a 26.1 (6-23) shooting performance over the first 20 minutes as the Lady Monarchs took a 33-19 lead into the break. King's would continue to dominate the second half and outscored FDU by a 55-24 count as the Devils would convert just 7-of-35 shots in the finals stanza. The Lady Monarchs would shoot a scorching 56.8 (21-37) over the final 20 minutes of play.

Varrasse produced an outstanding all-around effort with four assists, four steals and four rebounds for King's. Senior forward Jen Wozniak added 15 points in 20 minutes of play while freshman forward Beth Jordan came off the bench to add 13 points. Cindy Baral netted nine points while Jennie Orelli and Kristin Yeasted chipped in with eight each.

FDU was led by Pamela Sagehorn with 10 points while Kate Pearson added seven.
