LADY MONARCHS DEFEAT SUSQUEHANNA TO ADVANCE TO
TOURNEY FINAL
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's
basketball team placed four players in double-figure scoring as the Lady
Monarchs posted a 78-52 victory over Susquehanna University in the opening
round of the Patient Care/Lady Monarch Classic Friday in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
King's took a 40-27 half-time lead when it shot 51.4
(18-35 percent from the field. Jennie Orelli paced the Lady Monarchs with
seven points, while Jen Wozniak, Kristin Yeasted, and Beth Jordan chipped
in with six points each.
Orelli finished with a team-high 13 points while
making three-of-four three-point field goal attempts. Jen Wozniak added 12
points and 10 rebounds while Jordan netted a season-high 10 points.
Tiffini Varrasse chipped in with 10 points and six assists for King's,
which improved to 9-2 on the year.
The Lady Monarchs will face Muhlenberg College in
the 4:00 p.m. championship game. The Mules defeated Alvernia 61-49 in the
other first-round pairing. Susquehanna and Alvernia will meet in the 2:00
p.m. consolation game.
