LADY MONARCH BASKETBALL TEAM CRUSHES MARYMOUNT FOR TOURNEY TITLE

ARLINGTON, VA -- Last season, the King's College women's basketball team saw its dream season come to a screeching halt at the hands of Marymount
University in the NCA

A National Tournament "Elite Eight".

On Sunday, King's showed what may be a sign of things to come when the fourth-ranked Lady Monarchs routed the 17th ranked host Saints 79-52 in the finals of Marymount Tip-Off Classic.

The Lady Monarchs took a 34-23 lead into the half-time break but played a suffocating pressure defense in the second half, limiting the Saints to just one basket over the first 7:23 of the second stanza. King's outscored

Marymount 23-2 during the span to build a 55-25 lead with 12:56 remaining in the contest.

King's was led by senior forward Jen Wozniak who earned most valuable player honors after scoring 18 points with eight rebounds in the contest.

Tiffini
Varrasse added 14 points and five assists, while Nikki Kingston netted 10 points and three bounds. Both players were also named to the all-tournament team.

Katie Lala added eight points and nine rebounds while Jennie Orelli chipped in with eight points and five boards. Kristin Yeasted scored six points with six rebounds as the Lady Monarchs improved to 3-0 on the year.

Jodie Knotts scored 12 points to lead the Saints while Annetta Benjamin added 10.

Last March, Marymount defeated King's 67-64 to advance to the NCAA Division III "Final Four".
