LADY MONARCH WIN OPENER IN BAHAMAS, ALL-AMERICAN KINGSTON UNLIKELY FOR SECOND ROUND VERSUS CARNEGIE MELON

NASSAU, BAHAMAS -- Jen Wozniak led a balanced attack with four double-figure scorers as the King's College women's basketball team defeated Peace College 83-36 in the opening round of the eight-team Great Goombay Shootout in Nassau Bahamas.

King's took a 42-24 lead into the half-time break but used a stifling second-half defense to hold Peach to just 12 points over the final 20 minutes of play. Wozniak posted 15 points with six rebounds, followed by Carissa Ryan with 13 points and four boards. Tiffini Varrasse chipped n with 10 points, five assists, and four steals for the Lady Monarchs. Senior All-American Nikki Kingston added 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals but left the game with a head injury after drawing an offensive foul and is doubtful for King's second-round pairing against Carnegie-Melon.

No King's starter played more than 21 minutes in the game and 15 of the 17 Lady Monarch players dressed reached the scoring column.
