MINUS TWO STARTERS, LADY MONARCHS DROP 79-69 DECISION TO DELAWARE
VALLEY
WILKES-BARRE -- Playing without two starters, the King's College
women's basketball team dropped a 79-69 decision to Delaware Valley
College in an MAC Freedom matchup Wednesday in Doylestown. With the
loss, King's fell to 19-2 overall and 9-2 in MAC Freedom play. The
Aggies improved to 13-9 and 6-5.
King's played the game without starting off-guard Nikki Kingston who
suffered an injury during practice on Tuesday, as well as starting center
April Tanner who was ill.
The Lady Monarchs struggled at both ends if the floor and shot just 34.3
(24-70) percent from the field for the game. Jen Wozniak scored a
team-high 21 points for King's while Tiffini Varrasse added 17 and Jennie
Orelli netted 16. But no other King's player would score over four
points on the night.
Delaware Valley placed five players in double figures as Amber
Smolinsky scored a team-high 21 points. Bridget Golden followed with
14 while Sarah Tuffner and Lauren Snyder added 13 each. Kristen
Henry chipped in with 10 for the Aggies.
King's will host Lycoming College Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
