KING'S WOMEN ROUTE FDU-MADISON TO IMPROVE TO 15-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Tiffini Varrasse scored 12 points while Jen Wozniak added
11 to pace a balanced attack as the King's College women's basketball team
posted a 76-38 route of FDU-Madison in an MAC Freedom Conference matchup
Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's, ranked fourth nationally on Division III, extended
its school-record winning streak to 15-0 and are 6-0 in MAC Freedom
action. FDU fell to 7-9 and 0-6.
King's used a suffocating defense to force 19 turnovers in the first half
and build a 38-16 lead at the break. The Lady Monarchs limited FDU
to just 25-percent (7-28) shooting from the field in the opening stanza.
Katie Bowes came off the bench to spark the Lady Monarchs with six points
on 3-of-4 shooting, while Fran Monte and Carissa Ryan also canned six
points apiece.
The Lady Monarchs continued their second half defensive assault by forcing
14 more Devil turnovers. Varrasse led the way offensively with seven
second half points while Wozniak scored six. Nikki Kingston finished
the game with eight points, five assists, and four steals for the Lady
Monarchs.
FDU was led by Lauralee Janoski with seven points.
King's will host Washington
College Monday at 7:00 pm in Scandlon Gymnasium.
