KING'S WOMEN IMPROVE TO 10-0 WITH 77-52 WIN OVER SUSQUEHANNA TO ADVANCE
TO TOURNEY FINAL
WILKES-BARRE Fran Monte scored a team-high 17 points to pace a balanced
attack as the King's College women's basketball team posted a 77-52
victory over Susquehanna University Friday in the opening round of the
Patient Care/Lady Monarch Classic in Scandlon Gymnasium.
King's started out of the gates slowly and took the lead for good at 18-16
with 10:27 remaining in the first half on a basket by Jen Wozniak. The
Lady Monarchs concluded the opening stanza with a 18-7 run to take a 34-23
lead into the break.
In the second half, King's established itself quickly and built a
commanding 60-34 lead with 7:59 remaining after consecutive buckets by
Kristin Yeasted.
Monte was joined in double-figures by Yeasted who tallied 11 points while
Tiffini Varrasse and April Tanner added 10 points each.
King's will face Salisbury University in Saturdayıs championship game at
3:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium. Salisbury (9-1) defeated Rowan 93-84 in
the other first-round pairing.
