KING'S WOMEN'S FALL TO DEPAUW IN CARIBBEAN OPENER
CANCUN, MEXICO -- The King's women's basketball team fell to defending NCAA Division III national champion DePauw University 74-44 in the opening round of the Caribbean Showdown in Cancun, Mexico.
King's fell to 5-5 with the loss while DePauw improved to 7-1 and is ranked sixth in both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll as well as the D3Hoops.com poll.
Kaitlyn Fioroino led King's with 13 points and three rebounds while Lauren Kendra followed with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jessica Paettie netted 10 points with four boards while Jenna Palumbo contributed five points. Kaitlyn Malshefski chipped in with two points and a team-high five rebounds
Emily Marshall paced four DePauw double-figure scorers with 12 points and eight rebounds. Cassie Pruzzin added 11 points and seven rebounds while Gretchen Haehl also tallied 11 points. Jenna Fernandez chipped in with 10 points.
King's will face LaVerne University of California in its next game Friday at 5:00 p.m. CST, or 6:00 p.m. eastern time.
