LADY MONARCHS POST 63-54 WIN OVER RICHARD STOCKTON
WILKES-BARRE -- Junior guard Kaitlyn Fiorino
scored a game-high 25 points and added a career-high 12 rebounds to lead
the King's College women's basketball team to a 63-54 victory over
visiting Richard Stockton College Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 4-2 on the year while Stockton fell to
3-2.
King's would build a pair of nine-point first half leads, but Stockton
closed out the final 2:56 of the opening stanza with a 9-0 run to knot
the score at 25-25 at the break. The Lady Monarchs would come out for
the second half and used a 7-2 spurt to take a 32-27 advantage and never
relinquished the lead.
Fiorino was 10-of-20 from the field and canned three three-pointers on
the day. Krystina Durako also enjoyed a fine game as she equaled her
career-high of 17 points and added nine rebounds. Jenna Palumbo scored
all 10 of her points in the second half, including a pair of
three-pointers over the final 5:00 of the game to help King's protect
the lead. Lauren Kendra contributed 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Jenn Russell led Stockton with 17 points and seven rebounds while Kelley
Guarrera followed with 13 points and 11 boards. Michelle Auerbacher
contributed with six points and six assists while Alyssa Reiter chipped
in with seven points and four assists.
