KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO MONTCLAIR STATE

UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ -- Host Montclair State University broke open a close game with a critical 21-6 run midway through the second half to post a 66-59 victory over King's College in a non-conference women's basketball game in Upper Montclair, NJ.

With the loss, King's slipped to 3-2 while Montclair State improved to 4-2.

King's would take a 44-43 lead with 10:10 left in the contest following a three-pointer form Jenna Palumbo. Montclair, however, would use a bucket from Catherine Cristino to ignite a 21-6 surge capped by a basket from Jessica Garrabrant with 3:00 remaining to give the home squad a 64-50 advantage.

The Lady Monarchs attempted to rally on two baskets by Krystina Durako and a three-pointer from Jessica Paettie to close to within 65-50 with 0:25 on the closer but King's would get no closer.

Durako led King's with a career-high 17 points while hauling down 10 rebounds. Kaitlyn Fiorino followed with 12 points while Jenna Palumbo added 11. Lauren Kendra chipped in with three points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while Sarah O'Doherty chipped in with six points and four rebounds.

King's played the game without second-team pre-season all-American center Andrea Hochstuhl who missed the game with an injury.

Cristino paced five Montclair double-figure scorers with 16 points and nine rebounds. Marianne McGovern netted 12 points while Cynthia Warrington contributed with 11. Garrabrant and Jessica Horan chipped in with 10 points each.
