KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS OPENER TO TCNJ

ARLINGTON, VA --  The College of New Jersey went on a 13-6 run over the final 4:56 of play to post a 69-60 victory over the King's College women's basketball team in the opening round of the Marymount Tip-Off Classic Friday in Arlington, Va.

With TCNJ holding a slim 56-54 lead, Hillary Klimowicz hit a short jumper with 4:46 on the clock to ignite the Lion spurt. After a King's miss, Nicole Diaz drained a three-pointer to put TCNJ ahead 61-54 with 4:11 remaining.

King's would cut the lead to 61-56 on a pair of foul shots by Lauren Kendra, but Alyssa Michella answered with a three-pointer to stretch the Lion advantage to 64-56 with 3:25 left.

King's would draw to within 64-58 on a bucket by Kristen Baumes, but the Lady Monarchs would draw no closer.

Klimowicz led all scorers with 23 points and 13 rebounds, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. Michella added 16 points and nine rebounds FOR TCNJ while Kelsey Kutch chipped in with 12 points.  The Lions also out-rebounded King's by a 48-32 margin.

King's was led by Kaitlyn Fiorino with 17 points while Andrea Hochstuhl followed with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jenna Palumbo contributed 15 points and was 5-of-9 from three-point range. Baumes chipped in with five points while no other King's player scored more than two points.

The Lady Monarchs will face Salisbury University Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
