LADY MONARCHS FALL TO DESALES, 67-57
WILKES-BARRE -- LeighAnn Burke scored a game-high 33 points to lead visiting DeSales University to a 67-57 win over King's College Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win DeSales improved to 18-3 and 7-1 in the Freedom Conference. King's fell to 11-10 and 5-3.
After trailing 28-26 at the break, Burke took over in the second half where she scored 23 points as the Bulldogs outscored King's 41-29 over the final 20 minutes of play.
Burke was 12-of-19 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line. She was joined in double-figures by Kim Rarick with 12 points and five assists.
Lauren Kendra led King's with 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists while Andrea Hochstuhl added 11 points and eight rebounds. Kaitlyn Fiorino, who needed 13 points to reach the 1,000-point mark, settled for 10 on the night to up her career mark to 997. Jenna Palumbo chipped in with eight points.
King's will then return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Arcadia University.
