KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PICKS UP BIG CONFERENCE ROAD WIN AT FDU
(Kendra Breaks Career Assist Mark)
MADISON, NJ -- Kaitlyn Fiorino led a balanced attack with 20 points to pace four double-figure scorers as the King's College women's basketball team posted an important 73-67 Freedom Conference road victory over FDU-Florham Saturday in Madison, NJ.
With the win, King's improved to 11-9 overall and 5-2 in league play while FDU slipped to 14-6 and 5-2. The Lady Monarchs have handed the Devils both of their conference defeats this season.
Fiorino was 5-of-10 from the field while making four three-pointers. Lauren Kendra (left) was outstanding for King's with 15 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. In the process, Kendra set the Lady Monarch career record of 450 assists, bettering the mark of 447 set by Tiffini Varrasse from 2000-04.
Andrea Hochstuhl added nine points and 14 rebounds while Jenna Palumbo tallied 11 points, including three treys. Kaitlyn Malshefski chipped in with 10 points.
King's would utilize a strong defensive effort to build a 32-24 halftime lead, holding the Devils to just 25.7 (9-55) percent shooting in the opening stanza while the Lady Monarchs made 50 (13-26) percent from the floor.
