LADY MONARCHS POST 59-48 ROAD WIN AT MANHATTANVILLE
PURCHASE, NY -- Andrea Hochstuhl scored 20 points and snared 11 rebounds to power the King's College women's basketball team to a 59-48 victory over Manhattanville College in an MAC Freedom Conference matchup Wednesday in Purchase, NY.
With the win, the Lady Monarchs improved to 10-9 overall and 4-2 Freedom in league play. Manhattanville, meanwhile, slipped to 8-9 overall and 1-5 in Freedom Conference games.
King's built a 28-18 lead at the break thanks to nine points and three three-pointers from Jenna Palumbo while Hochstuhl added eight.
In the second half Hochstuhl took over, scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds over the final 20 minutes of play. The Lady Monarchs would build a pair of 21-point leads during that time, the last time coming with 12:03 remaining after a jumper by Hochstuhl that gave King's a 48-27 lead. The Lady Monarchs would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the game.
Hochstuhlmade good on 10-of-17 shots from the field while contributing three assists. Kaitlyn Fiorino followed with 15 points and four assists. Palumbo finished with nine points and two assists while Kaitlyn Malshefski tallied six points and seven rebounds. Lauren Kendra chipped in with seven rebounds and six assists.
Lauren Grenier led Manhattanville with 10 points while Nina Johnson and Carey Hickey added nine points apiece
King's will return to action on Saturday with another Freedom Conference road game when the Lady Monarchs travel to Madison, NJ to face FDU-Florham in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
