KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWN FDU
WILKES-BARRE -- Andrea Hochstuhl led a balanced attack with 12 points and 1 rebounds as the King's College women's basketball team posted a 59-45 win over FDU-Florham Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in Freedom Conference action. FDU, meanwhile, slipped to 12-5 and 3-1 in the Freedom after suffering their first conference loss.
Both teams struggled offensively in thee first half as King's took a 23-17 lead into the break. Hochstuhl, who had just four points and was held without a rebound in the opening stanza, posted eight points and all 11 boards over the final 20 minutes of play.
Hochstuhl was the only Lady Monarch player to reach double figures in scoring, but Jessica Paettie, Kaitlyn Fiorino and Jenna Palumbo added nine points each to pace a balanced effort. Lauren Kendra contributed five points with 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals while Krystina Durako tallied five points with six rebounds. Kaitlyn Malshefski chipped in with four points and three boards.
FDU was led by Emily Cerankowski with 16 points and eight rebounds while Courtney Young followed with 10 points and six boards. Danielle Michlovsky chipped in with nine points and five rebounds for the Devils.
King's will next travel to face conference foe DeSales University Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Center Valley.
