NEUMANN RALLIES OVER SALISBURY TO CAPTURE LADY MONARCH TOURNEY TITLE

WILKES-BARRE -- Brittany Whetts scored 21 points and pulled down a game high 11 rebounds on way to tournament most valuable player honors as Neumann University edged Salisbury University 78-72 in the championship of the Lady Monarch Classic Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win Neumann improves to 6-5 on the year, while Salisbury falls to 4-7 overall.

Neumann shot a solid 45.6 (26-57) percent from the floor, while Salisbury shot 40.6 (28-69) percent. Neumann also held a plus twelve advantage at the free throw line converting on 23 of 32 attempts.

For Neumann, Whetts was joined in double figures by all- tournament selection Caitlin Agnew with 12 points, Krista DiRomualdo with 12 points, and Dominque Thompson with 11 points and five rebounds.

Salisbury was led by all-tourney selections Monica Merkel with 25 points and Lindsay Martin with 19 points and five rebounds.
